#paywithvisa

Visa has created a really fun way to shop this festive season. Their virtual trolley dash allows you to play a game in which you can select goodies from Visa’s simulated electronic store up to the value of R500 (and an extra R20 for sharing to Facebook and Twitter). A daily prize of R500 will be awarded to one different entrant per day who selects the most goodies in the limited time and the top four speedy shoppers will go through to a 90 second finale in which the ultimate winner will win a R30,000 prize! I’ll be shopping for charity but you could be shopping for R30 000! Click the image below if you want to play too (and note that T’s and C’s apply to the game). #paywithvisa It’s that time of year again when we all indulge a little more over the festive season. But there are many people who aren’t so lucky and if anything, the holidays are a sore reminder of what they don’t have. With the #paywithVisa online trolley dash, I have the chance to give back by filling up my virtual trolley for charity. If I win the game, I’ll be able to donate up to R3000 worth of essentials to those in need. Here’s where I need your help. I’ve chosen my top three charities, but I’d like for you to help me decide which charity I should donate the money to. Here is my shortlist:

1. Sungardens Hospice. This is where my mom spent her last weeks. The staff at Sungardens has possibly the hardest job of all. They take care of the terminally ill during their last weeks/days trying to make them as pain-free and comfortable as possible. They took such good care of my mom and I often donate clothes, furniture or other goods to them as they have a shop they sell from to raise much-needed funds.

2. Jacaranda Children’s Home. This home cares for 250 previously abused children from the ages of 18 months – 18 years. They are a NPO and have the mammoth task of having to raise over R26 million a year to care for all their kids. One of their fundraisers which I always support is their “Festival of Lights”. A must-see during Christmas time.

3. Women Against Rape (WAR). An incredible organisation focused on helping rape victims. Their main objective is to secure a property for victims of abuse and/or rape to be housed in temporarily while they receive treatment and counselling. They are also interested in setting up trauma center rooms at police stations equipped with toys etc. for children who have been abused. They are constantly delivering care parcels to police stations for rape victims. Such a worthy cause!

Don’t forget to Tweet me @SimplyDelishSA using the #PayWithVisa hashtag and tell me which of the three charities I should go shopping for. The blogger with the most recommendations will also get their money doubled so click that tweet button and let’s put smiles on the faces of those in need this festive season!

Shopping under pressure, that’s hard. Paying with your Visa card. That’s easy.

  1. Hi Alida, the link on the image does not work. I would love to enter and win R30 000 for Jacaranda Children’s Home.
