Woolworths/Masterchef recipes and food photography

Cheesy corn loaf

Cheese Corn loaf

A while ago Woolworths asked me to photograph the recipe that their readers sent in for their Masterchef competition. The readers had to create a recipe with the given “Mystery box” of ingredients and I had to cook, style and photograph 13 recipes which was an incredibly fun assignment. I was so impressed by the level of creativity and imaginative use of the ingredients by home cooks. I decided to share a few of my favourite images with you and you can find the recipes if you follow the links below each image.

  1. When you’re photographing food, does it often go to waste because it’s cooled down before you’ve got the shot you want?

    1. Matt, sometimes the food goes cold but I have to be honest, I shoot VERY quickly. I set up everything before and just put the plate down. I also normally have a very defined idea of what I want to achieve with the shot so before I even begin, I know what I want it to look like. I hate wasting food so I almost never do.
