Herb Week

Have you ever seen beautiful, fresh produce in your supermarket and bought it just to come home and realise you have no idea to use it? Bought a new cut of meat to try and you find it too hard to think of something to do with it? This is the dilemma many people are faced with when they try to be adventurous with their grocery shopping. I used to be one of these people. Therefore, I’ve decided to introduce Themed weeks to my blog. I will be choosing different themes every second week (from different vegetables to spices and meats) and I will discuss the uses, storage options and of course I’ll throw in a few recipes. If you have any suggestions for themes you’d like to see discussed, please let me know!

I’ve decided to kick off the themed weeks with Herbs. So many people like the idea of buying/growing fresh herbs but once they get home, they don’t know what to do with them and the fresh herbs land up wilting and being chucked in the dustbin.

Fresh herbs give an incredible amount of flavour and depth to food and adding something simple like Thyme to chicken or basil to tomatoes makes a world’s difference.

I’ve decided to include a herb & food pairing guide. It’s just a general guide for you to see which herbs go best with different foods. If you are feeling adventurous, try to mix it up a bit and use the herbs in different ways, but if you are just looking for delicious and classic combinations, the guide below will surely help you.

I’ve also included a storage section and I’ve discussed how to store, freeze and dry your own herbs.

This week’s recipes include :

Eggs Benedict with a minted Hollandaise
Lamb Chops with Salsa Verde
Herbed Chicken
