It wouldn’t be the holidays without an abundance of cookies. I have added all my favorite cookie recipes from this year into a swoon-worthy Christmas Cookie Box. This box makes the perfect gift and is the ultimate treat.

Christmas Cookie Box 2021

How to build a Christmas Cookie Box

  1. Planning: The first step to building a holiday cookie box is to decide which cookies to include. They don’t all have to be homemade, although let’s face it. Homemade cookies are always better. Feel free to include your favorite store-bought cookies too! I like to keep it simple by adding mostly easy cookie recipe but adding a bit of sparkle with a fancy pants cookie that will impress and delight. This year that will be my North Pole cookie sandwiches. They are completely OTT and fabulous. It’s also a good idea to add a few other bits like candy canes, festive candy, etc. Remember to buy the boxes you’ll be packing the cookies in as well as tissue paper, ribbon and any other decorations you will be adding.
  2. Plan the baking schedule: It’s a good idea to work out which cookie dough need overnight chilling, which need extra time to be decorated, etc. Batch cookies together that require similar chilling times, baking times and decorating.
  3. Get baking: The wonderful thing about cookie dough is that it freezes beautifully. So you can easily make a few batches at a time, portion out the cookies and freeze them in freezer bags until you’re ready to bake. Make a comprehensive list of all the ingredients you will need for each cookie. There’s nothing worse than starting your prep only to find you’re out of brown sugar or chocolate chips. Also make sure you have all the necessary equipment. And stock up on silicone baking mats or parchment paper!
  4. Decorate and pack your box: Decorate any cookies that need it then start packing. Using tissue paper to line the box, add the cookies in piles and stacks to create visual interest. Add your extra candies and ribbon and a gift tag and you’re done!
