Sweet and fragrant, these stewed apples are on constant rotation in our house because they are just so versatile. Stirred into yogurt or oatmeal for an easy breakfast, added to ice cream for a quick dessert, they're a total crowd favorite.
½cupbrown sugar(optional and can be substituted with a sweetener of your choice)

1tspground cinnamonor 1 cinnamon stick
1tspvanilla extract or paste

Instructions
Place the chopped apples, sugar, water and flavorings in a medium saucepan.
Set over medium-high heat then bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to medium-low and allow to cook for 15-20 minutes until the apples are fork-tender but not mushy.
Remove from the heat then allow to cool slightly before transferring to an airtight container or jar and storing in the fridge.
