If you need to contact me, you can do so by e-mailing me at alidaryder[at]gmail[dot]com. And please make use of the recipe search tool at the top of the page. All the recipes have been put into categories for your convenience so you can continue to use Simply Delicious as an inspiration when you need to conjure up delicious meals for your friends and family. I’ve also added a page called “In My Pantry”. This is something I’ve been asked for, for quite a while now and I’ve finally gotten around to doing it. Listed there are all the ingredients that stock my pantry, fridge and freezer on a permanent basis. Without a well stocked kitchen, I would not be able to get creative with my cooking so I thought I’d share it with you.
And then I leave you with the simplest of simple recipes. S’mores are an American classic but that doesn’t mean that here in South Africa we love them any less. There are few things I love as much as a melted, squidgy marshmallow sandwiched between two cookies and some chocolate. TO make this easier, pop the marshmallows on one cookie into the microwave and heat for 20 seconds until they swell up and then sandwich with the other cookie. I like to replace the chocolate with some Nutella because, well I’m a shameless Nutella addicts and I love the I can just open a jar and beautifully smooth, nutty chocolate awaits me. I use Tennis Biscuits (Graham Crackers are used in the US) but you could also use Marie Biscuits. These are best served outside by a roaring fire…and make sure you have plenty of serviettes at hand as these can get really messy!
Makes 5 S’mores
10 Tennis biscuits (or other flat cookies)
5 large marshmallows
Nutella
- Spread about 2 tsp Nutella on each biscuit.
- Roast the marshmallows over an open flame (or alternatively, place the marshmallows on 5 of the biscuits and heat in the microwave oven for 20 seconds).
- As soon as the marshmallows are soft sandwich it between two Nutella-covered biscuits. Enjoy!
I recently picked up a jar of Nutella for my niece who was visiting from out of state and she never even opened the jar! She’s since left and I had no idea what I was going to do with it, but now I do! This is a great twist on a traditional favorite and something you can definitely share with your friends and family!
