Easy Cilantro Sauce

Cilantro sauce is the easiest sauce to make at home. Packed with flavor, it’s the perfect dip with tortilla chips and is delicious on everything from chicken taco bowls to quesadillas, enchiladas and tacos.

Cilantro Sauce

Ingredients needed

  • Cilantro/fresh coriander.
  • Fresh garlic cloves.
  • Fresh jalapeƱo pepper.
  • Oil. Avocado oil/extra-virgin olive oil.
  • Fresh lime juice.
  • Sour cream/Greek yogurt.
  • Salt and black pepper.

How to make cilantro sauce

  1. Blend: Slice the garlic and jalapeƱos then add to the bowl of a food processor or a blender with the cilantro, sour cream, lime juice, oil, salt and pepper. Blend until smooth.
  2. Serve: Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary then transfer to a serving bowl and serve.

Can I make this ahead?

Cilantro sauce can be made up to 5 days in advance and kept in an airtight container in the fridge. I wouldn’t recommend freezing this sauce as the sauce might split once thawed.

Serving suggestions

Cilantro sauce is delicious served with everything from tacos and quesadillas to enchiladas and even over grilled chicken, fish or steak. We love it on shrimp tacos, over pan-seared fish and with chipotle steak.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cilantro/fresh coriander
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1-2 jalapeƱos remove the seeds if you prefer a milder sauce
  • 2 tbsp sour cream / Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp oil avocado oil/extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2-3 tsp lime juice
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients in the bowl of a food processor or in a blender then blend until smooth.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  • Serve.
