  • Green beans.
  • Bacon.
  • Garlic cloves.
  • Olive oil.
  • Lemon juice.
  • Salt and pepper.

How to saute green beans

  1. Cook the bacon: Finely chop the bacon then cook in a large frying pan until crisp and golden. Remove the bacon from the pan with a slotted spoon and set aside. Drain the bacon fat, leaving 1-2 tbsp behind.
  2. Saute the green beans: Add a splash of olive oil then add the green beans. Saute the green beans for 4-5 minutes, stirring regularly, until they are al dente. Add the garlic and bacon and cook for another two minutes until the beans are cooked to your preference and the garlic is fragrant. Add the lemon juice and season to taste then serve.

Can I make this ahead?

The cooked green beans can be made a few hours in advance. Add the lemon juice just before serving as it can discolor the sauteed green beans. Leftovers can be kept in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated in the microwave oven before serving.

  1. Perfect recipe. I wanted to make green beans & bacon for Christmas Eve but don’t like the way people boil the green beans to death in a gallon of water for two hours. This recipe is a delicious alternative.
