How to make pizza toast

  1. Toast the bread: Pop sliced bread into a toaster or alternative toast under the grill/broiler of your oven on both sides.
  2. Add toppings: Place slices of toasted bread onto a rimmed baking sheet. Top the toast with pizza sauce. Scatter over grated or shredded mozzarella cheese and top with your favorite pizza toppings. Sprinkle over dried oregano and place in a hot oven.
  3. Bake: Allow to cook until the cheese has melted then remove from the oven and serve.

Can I make pizza toast ahead?

The toast is best served hot from the oven and if you add the toppings too far in advance the bread will go soggy. The toppings can be prepped a few days in advanced and kept in the fridge until you’re ready to go.

  1. This was so yummy! Never heard of pizza toast before, but we stumbled on this recipe and I’m so glad we did! We used sourdough bread and Rao’s marinara sauce for ours. Toasting before making definitely was a great idea, it made ours turn out delightfully crispy and flavorful. You made dinner at our house delicious and so simple tonight, thanks for sharing!!

  2. This is (good) crazy ; basically what my recipe is for what has cheekily been dubbed ‘poor man’s pizza!

    Toasted wholemeal bread or whatever is handy, crusts being a treat;
    a layer of some super market sweet chilli relish or tomato relish;
    next, some grated cheeses, usually with some grated Mozzarella from the freezer;
    a few drops of Lea and Perrin’s Worcestershire sauce.
    Under a warm grill, watching like a hawk, rotating to ensure even grilling, until cheese grilled lightly at door. Hey Presto, a tasty treat.

  3. This looks so good!

    I’m willing to give this a try! But if I used the broiler, would I need to have the settings be on high or low?

  4. what temperature do you set the oven on it would help to know. The vedio looks delicious but we need to know what temperature .to set the oven on.

  5. I second what Mary Ann said, your photos are so pretty. And the pizza toast looks delicious!

  6. This is a great afterschool snack idea. My kids are going to crazy for these pizza toasts.

  7. Wow, these look so awesome! And love that you’re getting your kids involved in filming. Your videos are lovely.
