Air fried feta bites with hot honey

Ingredients

  • Feta cheese. I used a firm, Greek-style feta cheese.
  • Flour.
  • Eggs.
  • Panko bread crumbs.
  • Dried oregano.
  • Garlic powder.
  • Salt and black pepper.
  • Olive oil.

For the hot honey

  • Honey.
  • Chilli flakes / red pepper flakes.
  • Garlic powder.

How to make Air Fryer feta bites

Place flour in a shallow bowl and season with a generous pinch of salt. Whisk the eggs into a separate bowl. In a third shallow bowl, combine breadcrumbs, salt, black pepper, a teaspoon of garlic powder and a teaspoon of dried oregano.

Cube the feta cheese then coat first in the flour, then in the beaten egg and finally in the breadcrumbs. Place the breaded feta into the basket of an air fryer and drizzle with olive oil. Place in the air fryer and air fry at 200ºC/390ºF for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and crisp.

While the feta is cooking, combine the honey, chilli flakes and garlic powder in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Remove from the heat and transfer to a heat-proof serving bowl to cool.

Serve the feta bites with hot honey and lemon wedges.

Can I make this ahead?

The feta bites can be breaded and placed on a plate lined with parchment-paper and refrigerated for up to 6 hours before air frying.

Can I oven bake or fry these?

Yes, you can. Bake at 220ºC/430ºF for 10-15 minutes or fry in hot oil until crisp and brown.
