Air Fryer French Fries
Homemade air fryer French fries are crispy and golden and ready in 30 minutes. The perfect side dish for everything from burgers and sandwiches to chicken and fish.

Ingredients and Substitutions
- Potatoes. Use any floury potato for French fries. Russet Potatoes, Yukon Golds, etc. are all good options.
- Oil. Use extra-virgin olive oil or avocado oil or any other vegetable oil of your choice.
- Seasoning: I usually only season with salt but other spices like garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and black pepper are all good options.
How to cut French fries
- Peel: You can choose to peel the potatoes but I usually just wash them well and keep the peels on.
- Cut: Place the potatoes on a cutting board in front of you and using a sharp knife, slice the potato into 1cm slices. Cut every slice into 1cm thick fries.
- Soak (optional): Transfer the fries to a large bowl of cold water and allow to soak for a few minutes then drain and pat dry with paper towels.

How to make French fries in the air fryer
- Cut: Cut the potatoes into French fries.
- Season: Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl then pour over the oil and season with your preferred seasonings. Toss to coat the fries.
- Air fry: Transfer the fries to the air fryer basket in a single layer then air fry at 390°F/200°C for 25-30 minute, shaking the basket to promote even browning, until the fries are crisp and golden on the outside and fluffy on the inside. You might need to do this in batches if your air fryer isn’t very big. Remove and serve with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.
Can I make this ahead?
The crispy exterior of the fries will soften once stored in the fridge so I recommend making and serving these right before serving. However, leftovers can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the air fryer.

Serving Suggestions
French fries is the ultimate side dish and goes with absolutely everything. We love it with sandwiches, burgers, steaks and Caesar salad (if you know, you know). It’s also a delicious snack or appetizer served with fry sauce.
