Cheesy Air Fryer Sausage Rolls

These cheesy sausage rolls cooked in the air fryer are absolutely perfect as an easy lunch, quick snack and make for perfect lunchbox fillers.

Air Fryer Sausage Rolls

At the beginning of the year I am always looking for new ideas for lunchboxes, easy lunches or quick snacks to keep the kids fed and happy. I love having a few sheets of frozen puff pastry in the freezer. Add a pack of pork sausages and some cheese and you have an absolutely delicious dish.

You could bake these in the oven but I love using my Instant Vortex Plus Versazone because it saves me from preheating the entire oven and delivers the most crisp, golden pastries. I also love that the generous size of the air fryer basket allows me to make a big batch of these sausage rolls. Very handy when feeding hungry teens!

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Puff pastry.
  • Pork sausages. You could also use sausage meat or frankfurters instead. I cooked the pork sausages in the air fryer but you could pan-fry them too. If you’re using frankfurters, cheese grillers or other smoked pork sausages you don’t need to cook them before hand.
  • Dijon mustard. This is optional but I love the punch of flavor it adds.
  • Cheese. I used cheddar cheese but any good melting cheese will work.
  • Egg.

How to make sausage rolls in an air fryer

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C/350°F.
  2. Roll the thawed puff pastry out on a lightly floured surface then cut into squares (approximately 10cmx10cm).
  3. Spread a teaspoon of mustard onto each piece of puff pastry then add some grated cheese and the cooked pork sausage.
  4. Fold two corners over the sausage and pinch the pastry together.
  5. Brush with egg wash then transfer to the air fryer basket.
  6. Air fry for 15 minutes until the pastry is crisp and golden.
  7. Remove from the air fryer and serve.

Can I make this ahead?

Yes, these sausage rolls can be made up to 4 days ahead and kept in airtight container in the fridge.
