Easy Salt and pepper Balsamic steak marinade

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Olive oil. Avocado oil is good too.
  • Balsamic vinegar. This marinade works so well because the rich flavor of the Balsamic compliments the meaty steak perfectly. Balsamic reduction can also be used.
  • Salt.
  • Black pepper.
  • Rosemary. This is optional and can be substituted with other herbs like thyme or oregano.
  • Garlic. I prefer using sliced garlic so that I can remove the slices easily and they don’t burn while the steak is grilling. You can also use garlic powder.
  • Steak. I used sirloin but this recipe will work on any cut of steak.

How To Make Easy Steak Marinade

It couldn’t be simpler. Combine all the steak marinade ingredients and mix well. Place the steaks in a Ziploc bag and pour over the marinade. Squeeze out all of the air and seal the bag then massage the marinade into the steak, making sure all the steaks are well coated. Marinate for 30 minutes at room temperature or overnight in the fridge. If marinating in the refrigerator, allow the steak to come to room temperature for at least an hour before cooking. Cook the steak to your desired doneness in a hot skillet, grill pan or outdoor grill then allow to rest, slice and serve.

Notes

Is Balsamic vinegar good for steak marinade?
Yes! The great thing about Balsamic vinegar is that it adds color and flavor to the steak. The sugars in the vinegar caramelizes and makes the steak even more delicious.
