Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Frozen cranberries. Fresh cranberries can be substituted.
  • Sugar.
  • Water.
  • Pear juice. Apple juice can be used instead.
  • Fresh lemon juice.
  • Fresh ginger.
  • Pinch of salt.
  • Vanilla extract.

How to make Christmas Mocktails

  1. Make the cranberry syrup by combining frozen cranberries, sugar, a few cups of water, pear juice, freshly squeezed lemon juice, sliced ginger, salt and vanilla in a saucepan. Set over medium heat then bring to a simmer. Allow to cook for 10 minutes then remove from the heat and allow to cool. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve and transfer to a container or bottle.
  2. To make the mocktails, pour syrup over ice then top with club soda/soda water and serve. Decorate your glasses with slices of fresh pear, cranberries and rosemary. For an alcoholic drink, add a shot of vodka, gin or tequila to the glass with the syrup.

Yes, the cranberry syrup can be made up to 2 weeks in advance and kept in an airtight container in the fridge.

  • 1 cup pear juice if you can find a natural pear juice that is a little thicker, you'll get the most pear flavor.
  • 1 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2 thumb-size pieces fresh ginger peeled and sliced
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For serving

  • club soda/soda water
  • fresh pear slices
  • cranberries
  • fresh rosemary

  1. It’s very good and easy to make. I did use cranberry juice and simple syrup since I already had those, instead of starting from the berry.
    How much of the syrup do you recommend adding to the glass?
