  • Salt and black pepper.
  • Olive oil/olive oil spray.

How to cook tater tots in an air fryer

Peel the potatoes and place in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and allow to cook for 10 minutes. Drain and allow to cool until easy to handle. Grate the potatoes on a box grater and add to a large mixing bowl. Add the cornstarch, parmesan cheese and seasonings then mix well. Form tater tots out of the mixture by squeezing a tablespoon of the potato mixture between your palms and forming with your fingers.

Place the tater tots in the air fryer basket in batches and drizzle/spray with olive oil then cook for 20-25 minutes at 200ºC/400ºF. Flip the tater tots half way and cook until crisp and golden brown. Remove from the air fryer and serve and serve with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.

Can I make air fryer tater tots ahead?

Form the tater tots and freeze in a single layer until firm then transfer to freezer bags or a freezer-safe container. Air fry the frozen tater tots until golden brown and crisp. Leftovers can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer until hot and crisp.

Can I make these in the oven?

Yes, you can bake tater tots in a hot oven until crisp and golden. Place the tots on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 220ºC/430ºF for 20-30 mins.
