Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Boneless pork chops. You can ask the butcher to de-bone pork chops for you. You can use bone-in pork chops but it makes for harder eating.
  • For the breading: flour, eggs and bread crumbs. Panko breadcrumbs are a great option but feel free to substitute with corn flake crumbs or Italian breadcrumbs.
  • Seasoning: Garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and black pepper. Onion powder, ground mustard and herbs like oregano, thyme or sage are also delicious with pork.
  • Extra virgin olive oil. Avocado oil or vegetable oil can also be used.

How to make fried pork chops in the air fryer

  1. Bread: Season the pork chops with salt and pepper then coat in seasoned flour. Dust off the excess then dip in beaten egg and finally coat in the seasoned breadcrumbs. For a thicker crust, repeat the egg and bread crumb step.
  2. Air fry: Place the breaded pork chops in the air fryer basket in a single layer (you might need to cook them in batches) then spray with olive oil and air fry for 15 minutes at 390°F/200°C, flipping over half way through cooking, until the chops are crisp, golden and cooked through. If your chops are very thick, they will require longer cooking time.
  3. Serve: Remove the air fried pork chops from the oven and serve with lemon wedges and side dishes of your choice.

When is pork done?

Pork is done when the internal temperature reaches 158°F/70°C on a meat thermometer or instant read thermometer. Prime pork is perfectly safe to eat when it’s still slightly blushing. Remember that the meat will continue cooking as it rests so removing it from the heat slightly before it reaches the cooked temperature is a good idea.

Can I make this ahead?

The crumb coating will go a little soggy when stored in the fridge but leftovers can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the air fryer.

Serving Suggestions

These crispy air fryer pork chops are perfect served with mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes and veggies like frozen peas, asparagus, broccoli, carrots or green beans. We also love it with a big green salad or the Grinder salad from our Chicken Milanese recipe.
