Air Fryer Garlic Bread
This air fryer garlic bread recipe is crisp, buttery and perfectly flavored with fresh garlic, herbs and parmesan cheese. Cooked in less than 5 minutes, you’ll never make garlic bread any other way again.

I have yet to meet someone who doesn’t like garlic bread. Who could say no to bread absolutely drenched in garlicky-herby-cheesy butter and baked until crisp and golden? This easy garlic bread recipe is my go-to when I want a quick snack or easy side dish for a speedy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients and Substitutions
- Bread. I used French bread/French baguette but ciabatta will also work.
- Butter. I always have salted butter on hand but if you only have unsalted butter, use that.
- Fresh garlic cloves.
- Herbs. I used dried oregano but thyme, rosemary, dried parsley or sage will all be delicious. Other seasonings like Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes/chilli flakes,
- Parmesan cheese. Mozzarella cheese can be substituted if you want cheesy garlic bread.
- Salt and black pepper.

How to make air fryer garlic bread
- Make the garlic butter: Place softened butter in a small bowl then mince the fresh garlic cloves. I like to use a microplane for this but you can use a sharp knife or garlic crusher too. Add the minced garlic to the butter with the herbs, grated parmesan cheese and season with salt and black pepper. If using salted butter, you don’t need to add salt.
- Prepare the bread: Slice the loaf in half, lengthwise, then spread the garlic butter mixture onto each piece of bread. Grate over a little more cheese. If you want to make individual servings, slice the bread into thick slices and air fry the sliced bread for a minute to crisp up one side then flip over, spread over the garlic mixture and air fry until crisp and golden.
- Air fry: Place the bread in the air fryer basket. Air fry garlic bread for 4-5 minutes at 400°F/200°C until crisp and golden. Remove from the air fryer, slice, sprinkle with fresh parsley then serve.

Can I make this ahead?
This recipe is definitely best served immediately but any leftover garlic bread can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for a day or in the fridge for up to 3 days. The garlic bread can also be frozen and re-heated in the air fryer for a few minutes until hot throughout.
