These easy freezer meals are great for making ahead and freezing for those days when you don’t have time to cook or need dinner in a flash.
How to make freezer meals
Easy casseroles, pasta dishes, soups and stews are all good freezer meals. If the recipe is topped with cheese, it’s best to allow the cooked food to cool and then top with cheese and freeze. The cheese will then be melted when reheated. I prefer cooking and freezing casseroles, pies and stews in foil containers. I press a piece of parchment paper onto the surface of food then cover with two layers of foil before freezing. If you can find the white foil container lids they also work really well. Soup recipes freeze well in glass or reusable plastic containers with lids.
How long do freezer meals last
Most freezer meals can be frozen for at least 3 months and up to 6 months. To cook freezer meals, remove any plastic wrapping then place in a preheated oven and bake until hot and bubbling throughout.
