Parker House Rolls
Parker house rolls are soft, fluffy and the perfect dinner companion. Brushed with garlic butter, these rolls are guaranteed to be a crowd favorite.

Ingredients and Substitutions
- Flour. All purpose flour / Cake flour works well.
- Instant yeast.
- Sugar.
- Warm milk. Whole milk is best used here.
- Olive oil.
- Salt.
- Garlic cloves.
- Melted butter. I used salted butter but unsalted butter can be used instead.

How to make Parker house rolls
- Make the dough: Stir together the warm milk, yeast and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment. Allow to stand for 5 minutes until frothy then add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Knead on low speed until the dough starts to come together then pour in the oil. Allow to knead for 5 minutes until the dough is soft and smooth. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise for 90 minutes in a warm spot.
- Form the rolls: Tip the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Press into a rectangle of approximately 1-2cm (½-inch) thick. Cut the dough into 12 rectangles. Fold each rectangle in half then place in a baking dish lined with parchment paper. Cover with a tea towel and allow to proof for 30 minutes while you preheat the oven. Brush the rolls with egg wash before baking.
- Bake the rolls: Place the rolls in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the rolls are golden and cooked through. Brush with melted butter mixed with crushed garlic as they come out of the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Can I make this ahead?
Yes, the dough can be made the day before and kept covered in the fridge. The shaped rolls can be kept at room temperature for up to 60 minutes before baking. Baked rolls can be covered with foil and kept in a warm spot for up to 4 hours before serving.
