Air Fryer Buffalo Wings

Juicy air fryer buffalo wings drenched in homemade buffalo sauce is the easiest appetizer and perfect for game day snacking.

Air Fryer Buffalo Wings

If you love chicken wings, you’re going to LOVE these air fryer buffalo wings. They are perfectly seasoned, drenched in spicy buffalo sauce and perfect for entertaining. We also love that they’re a little healthier than deep frying the wings and to be honest, we actually prefer them to classic buffalo wings. The seasoning blend adds great flavor ad the wings come out perfectly juicy.

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Chicken wings. If you can only find whole chicken wings, cut in between the drumettes and the flat to create two wings.
  • Seasoning: Smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and white pepper.
  • Hot sauce. I used Tabasco but Valentina, Frank’s red hot sauce, etc can be used too. You can also use a store-bought buffalo sauce if you prefer.
  • Melted butter.
  • Honey.

How to cook buffalo wings in the air fryer

  1. Place the chicken wings on a cutting board then pat dry with paper towels. Mix the spices together in a small bowl then sprinkle over the chicken wings, making sure both sides are covered.
  2. Transfer the wings to the air fryer basket in a single layer then air fry at 400°F/205°C for 15-20 minutes, turning over half way through, until the wings are golden brown and crisp around the edges and cooked through. You might need to cook the wings in batches if your air fryer basket isn’t very large. Cooking time will vary depending on the size of the wings you’re using.
  3. Make the buffalo sauce by combining the hot sauce, melted butter and a teaspoon or two of honey (to taste) in a small saucepan and melting together over medium heat.
  4. Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl, pour over the buffalo sauce and toss to coat.
  5. Serve the wings with blue cheese dressing or ranch dressing and celery sticks.

Can I make this ahead?

The wings can be seasoned and kept in the fridge overnight before air frying. Leftovers can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
