Air Fryer Burgers
These air fryer burgers are incredibly juicy, tender and so easy! No mess and cooked in 10 minutes? Yes please!

Ingredients and Substitutions
- Ground beef/beef mince. I used lean ground beef – my favorite is an 80/20 mix of meat to fat. You can make this with ground turkey or chicken too.
- Breadcrumbs. I used fresh breadcrumbs but dried breadcrumbs can be substituted.
- Spices: Garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt and black pepper. Other seasoning like smoked paprika and herbs like thyme, parsley or rosemary will also be delicious.
- BBQ Sauce. I used homemade bbq sauce but you can use any store-bought sauce of your choice.
- For the burgers: Toasted hamburger buns/brioche buns, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, burger sauce, ketchup, mustard, pickles.
How to cook burgers in an air fryer
- Make the hamburger patties: Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix until everything is combined well. With wet hands, form the mixture into 6-8 burger patties just slightly larger than the burger buns you’re planning on serving. The patties will shrink slightly while cooking. I didn’t find it necessary but you can also push an indent into the center of patties with your thumb to prevent it from bulging in the center once cooked.
- Air fry: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F/205°C. Add the burgers to the air fryer basket and spray with oil. Air fry for 5 minutes, flip over then brush with barbecue sauce and air fry for another 5 minutes or until the patties are done to your preference. Optional: Add a slice of cheese to each burger and air fry for another 30 seconds before serving.
- Serve: Serve the burgers with all your favorite toppings on toasted buns.
Can I make this ahead?
The patties can be formed and kept covered in the fridge for up to 6 hours before cooking. Leftovers can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes before serving.

FAQ
This depends on how well done you want your burgers to be. I like cooking them for 8-10 minutes at 400°F/205°C until they are medium-well.
Again, this is personal preference. Cooking burgers in a pan will give them more of a crust which is delicious. The air fryer hamburgers turn out super juicy and moist and the cleanup is so much easier so it’s my go-to for weeknights.
I don’t bother greasing the air fryer basket, I just spray the burger patties with a little oil before air frying.
I do to guarantee even browning but technically you don’t need to.
Ground beef is safe to eat when the internal temperature reaches 160°F/71°C on a meat thermometer. For the juiciest burgers, remove the patties from the heat at 157°F/69°C and allow to rest. The residual heat will ensure it reaches the safe temperature within 5 minutes.
