Cooking steaks can feel intimidating but this recipe is so simple and even though I always reach for my skillet when cooking steak, this air fryer recipe has become my new go-to. With a handful of simple ingredients, this recipe is easy enough for a weeknight dinner but nice enough for special occasions or date night in.
Ingredients and Substitutions
- Filet Mignon steaks. Beef tenderloin/beef fillet. This cooking method will actually work with ribeye, sirloin and rump too.
- Extra virgin olive oil.
- Seasoning: Use your favorite steak seasoning. I used a seasoning blend with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, coriander and red pepper flakes. You could use herbs like fresh rosemary, parsley and thyme too.
- Salt and black pepper.

- Rare: Cook the filets for 3 minutes per side until the internal temperature reaches 50ºC / 122ºF.
- Medium-Rare: Cook the filets for 4 minutes per side until the internal temp is 52ºC / 125ºF.

So for 4 min each side then do I have to flip it after 4 min for another 4 min?
Cook the steak for 4 minutes on one side, flip it over and cook for another 4 minutes totalling 8 minutes for medium rare.
