Chips and Dip Platter
Chips and dip is the perfect, easy snack for entertaining a crowd. Make a variety of dips, add all your favorite chips and serve on a big platter.

How to put together a chips and dip platter
Ideally you want a range of dips varying in flavor and texture to add interest to your platter. I like including a fresh salsa, creamy dips like sour cream or cream cheese dip and something with texture like a corn or spinach dip. Similarly, adding a variety of chips that complement the dips makes for the ultimate chips and dip platter. You could go the extra mile and make your own potato chips but that is unnecessary effort, in my opinion. Homemade tortilla chips or pita chips are easy to make yourself, though so I would add them if you are serving chunky dips like corn dip.
Which dips work well?
For fuss-free entertaining I prefer only using easy dip recipes that don’t require any cooking (thing salsa, guacamole and sour cream dip). However, for an all-out platter, I would recommend adding a hot dip. It’s guaranteed to impress the socks of your guests!
What chips to use:
Try to include as many textures as you can to compliment the variety of dips you’ll be serving. Homemade chips are the ultimate flex but not a necessary step, in my opinion.
- Corn chips/Tortilla chips.
- Pita chips.
- Crinkle-cut chips.
- Kettle-fried chips.
- Thin potato chips (like Lays).
- Vegetable chips (sweet potato, beetroot, carrot, etc.). You could also add raw veggies like carrots, cucumber, celery etc for a healthy addition to your platter.
- French fries are a great hot addition.
- Crackers and pretzels can also be added.

Can I make this platter in advance?
All the dips can be made in advance. The creamy avocado dip will brown when made too far in advance so I would suggest making that no more than 30 minutes in advance but all of the other dips can be made up to 2 days in advance. Keep them covered in the fridge before serving. The platter can be assembled up to 30 mins in advance and cover tightly with plastic wrap until ready to serve.

This looks great, I’m always on the lookout for more dips to try. Hopefully one day soon I’ll be allowed to have guests over again so I can try it out. 🙂
